Dannsa-ceum | Step dance

We’re excited to introduce a step dance class: it's traditionally been a key part of Gaelic culture, but it's importance is often overlooked in Scotland today. Step dance connects movement with rhythm, which will enhance the children’s sense of timing. It's an engaging, easy-going class to help pick up some basics and have fun while doing it!

These classes for P4 - S2 will focus on learning new tunes and working together as a group. Learning in mixed instrument groups promotes listening skills, collaboration, and ensemble playing. This group experience builds confidence, musicality, and is a fun way to make friends.

Mixed Instrument

Tin whistle is a great introduction to instrumental music for our P2/3 children. It introduces melody, breath control, and ornamentation in an accessible way, while building a strong musical foundation to prepare children for other instruments. The tin whistle’s simplicity makes it ideal for developing confidence and traditional repertoire early on.

Fìdeag | Whistle

Singing encompasses everything important about Fèis, so it's important to us that everyone sings! It develops language skills, as well as musicality and cultural understanding. The children will learn 'cèilidh songs',  as well as 'puirt à beul' and both traditional and modern songs. These will be combined with movement, games and fun! Instead of looking for technique or perfection, we want it to be enjoyable and to build a deep connection with the Gaelic language and culture.
